-“You know I can’t let people see me like that!” says Lars as he tears up a photo of himself that Ron was going to show to other people
-Ron asks him why he cares what other people think of him (Lars) and he responds “you wouldn’t say that if people said things about you!!”
-Sadie (talking about the gem) says that it was just hurt and felt trapped in its body (I know, that’s an old and over-used and often inaccurate trans trope) and Lars gets super defensive, thinking that she’s talking about him and not the gem

– you can read an implication that Ron and Lars have different motivations for having the secret base — Ron is there for the paranormal stuff obviously, but Lars is… not so much
– the name carving is a VERY TRANS THING TO DO, especially in the scenario of Lars not being out to anyone but Ron: choosing and using a name that reflects your gender is a huge step in personal affirmation and having that name be visible would be an enormous comfort
