I remember reading this short story in middle school about a little girl who moved to a planet in another solar system, far away from earth, where it does nothing but rain constantly for years on end. She would tell the children what it was like to stand in the sun, what it looked like, how it made her feel, but none of the children believed her. In fact, many of them were jealous, and made fun of her appearance because moving to a planet with no sunshine caused this girl to lose the life inside her. When the day of sunshine finally came, the children locked the girl inside a closet, and forgot about her. I still have so many feelings for this little girl, and I read this short story almost 20 years ago. I don’t even remember the title.
All Summer in A Day by Ray Bradbury. It is one of the saddest things I have ever read.
