A game that is marketed as your standard fishing game and for the first 20 minutes or so you catch normal fish like bluegill and bass and what have you. But the further you go into the lake you start to catch fish with mutations and it gets more and more intense until you’re pulling in Eldritch horror monsters and sometimes severed human limbs. You realize you don’t recall how you got to this lake in the first place and the objective becomes to find your way back to shore. You have no real weapons but you can throw the creatures you’ve caught far away from the boat as a means to distract whatever is underneath you, bumping into the boat sometimes.
Additional items for the game.
A fishing pole with a radar that starts out with just beeps but later includes noises with hidden messages.
A GPS that displays texts and story elements.
You meet other boaters, all from various backgrounds, countries, and time periods. Some are friendly, others want to sacrifice you to the lake monsters.
You can also take the route of sacrificing others to the lake monster.
Or you can assemble a party and work to keep them safe.
The more fucked up looking the fish you catch, the closer you’re getting to a boss fight, which is usually running from something you can only see part of in the water.
????
And that’s my game idea.
More details.
It never stops being a fishing game. You are always fishing and searching for new areas where there is more activity in order to progress the story.
Depending on the choices you make and the amount of mutant fish you consume, you may start to mutate yourself. The fishing pole is part of your arm, you don’t notice it until later. If you consume mostly non-mutated fish and don’t sacrifice to the monsters you can keep the mutations to a minimum.
You can go full mutant and the boat becomes part of your body as well. This makes the monsters pay less attention to you, but you can no longer befriend or trade items with humans. You can still catch human remains and most of them are carrying items.
If you stay mostly human you can work to gather as many surviving humans as you find and assemble a fleet. The possibility of one of them turning on you always stands.
If you’re mutant you gain the ability to capsize yourself and view things under water. This is how you find ultimate monster.
If you’re human you can explore small abandoned docks and islands. These are where you find portals leading to different time periods and countries. You deliver members of your party to these. Only the person who originally belongs there can go through it.
Possible end game situations.
You find the portal leading back to your world, where you wake up on the river bank. You can catch normal fish before going home, making sure they are all free of mutations (they might not be.)
You join the monster, eventually overtaking it. You gain the ability to open time portals near water. You use lures to draw in humans.
I can’t think of anymore endings right now, I may have ruined the game with these new details so feel free to just enjoy the first part.
Terrible concept art. Mini game idea. Compete with members of your party to catch the most fucked up fish. Points awarded based on how many extra body parts it has and if it communicates telepathically with you.
Added my No-Romo posts to this because I feel they are the most important additions. (I am not a writer or game designer or really capable of making anything so this idea is just wishful thinking at best.)
Concept art if it was a more stylized, cute game. You would be able to customize your character and your boat. Sorry this became so big I’m tagging it with it’s working title “Lure” for now. I legit expect nothing at all to come from this, I just like to design and concept out things a bit.
The ultimate ending to the game would be to ignore all plot points and just keep fishing. Meet a person? Tell them you’re not interested in working with them. Feel like you’re getting close to a boss monster? Turn the boat a different direction. Just
keep catching and cataloging the fish until you run out of room in your
journal. After that the sky opens up and sucks you into it. You wake up exactly where the game started but the first page of your journal now says “YOU DID A REEL GOOD JOB!” And that’s the ending I would shoot for.
Perhaps I’m a little late to the game, because I’m sure most of you have probably seen the new video on the official Homestuck youtube page, starting off the channel in line with the info from the reddit user that we came across a few weeks back! I’m very excited about this news, especially in that I seem to have been accurate in my prediction that some part of the channel will be featuring fan contributed content! But first, let me break down what was said and announced in the video.
The video was hosted by Dante Basco, star of Hook, voice of Prince Zuko and high-profile Homestuck fan (I’m sure you’re familiar with him), and John Burain, a business developer at What Pumpkin. (n.b.; despite extensive searching I was unable to confirm the spelling of John’s surname online, if I got that wrong, somebody please correct me!). These two seem to be going to take a role in presenting further Homestuck content on the channel. Dante explains; “we’re gonna be here, we’re gonna be hanging out online, we’re gonna be in this youtube channel… putting together footage, putting together footage with the help of you guys out there to further the conversation of Homestuck”. This implies that, as we were hinted, the Youtube channel will be a major part of the new content output from What Pumpkin, and that Dante will have a big role in this project. Furthermore, this comes alongside new confirmation of the nature of this content, as the pair finally detail what the nature of Homestuck 2.0 will be!
“Homestuck 2.0 is really just a collective of stuff we’re doing after the webcomic’s over… Homestuck 2.0 consists of digital [media], video games, and stuff we can’t talk about yet.”
That’s essentially what we were expecting from the last information release, but it’s good to have confirmation of what the mysterious “Homestuck 2.0″ consists of, from an official source! My attention is particularly drawn to the exciting prospect “stuff we can’t talk about yet”; to speculate, could this be the hinted-at web series? That remains to be seen.
What is not speculation however are the other two major projects that are discussed in the video! Firstly, Dante confirms that Hiveswap, the long-awaited, much delayed Homestuck video game, is still in development! This is the first new information we’ve had about the project since the leaked information concerning the overhauls of the graphics and team, so it’s nice to have some updates.
Dante: “What kind of game is it?”
John: “It’s going to be an episodic point-and-click adventure game … It’s going to be beautiful; 2D, hand-drawn art, lots of dialogue, lots of inventory mixing … It’s going to spin off a story … it’s connected to the Homestuck universe.”
This isn’t anything new, but it is exciting to hear that Hiveswap is definitely still coming along, especially given the issues that have marred the development of the game thus far.
What is new, however, is the initiative that Dante then announces for the Youtube channel itself.
Dante: “Well this is the deal; our brand new digs, this brand new Youtube page; it’s actually about you guys. One of my favourite things about Homestuck … is actually getting to meet you guys out there. Maybe you want to see a specific show, or maybe you want to do a show and put it on this channel. We’d love to help make it happen.”
John: “Homestuck is huge. It’s bigger than the two of us, it’s even bigger than Andrew. And so the thing is that we need your help with cool ideas for the Youtube page. Whether it’s a show idea, or someone we can to talk to about Homestuck, or I don’t know, anything!
And if you even want to take a video of your submission, or suggestions, you can pop a link down below, and we can take a look at it. And if we dig it, we can get in touch, and maybe you can help us make it.”
Whoa. I had predicted that the fan contributions might be a part of the youtube channel, but it appears that, more than that, they will be a main focus! What Pumpkin appears to want to work directly with the fans to create their new “shows”, insofar as actually asking for open submissions! (I can tell you what this blogger is going to be preparing as soon as I conclude this post…)
This makes perfect sense, however, within the broader context of what Homestuck is and where it has been going. Dante, earlier in the video, describes it as a “conversation”, and I don’t think there’s any word more apt. From the very start, MS Paint Adventures has primarily been driven by reader participation. Even once adventure commands stopped being accepted, this ethos continued, with fandom constantly influencing the comic and vice versa. Andrew pooled musicians and artists to tap for the big collaborative flashes such as Cascade and Collide, culminating in a comic conclusion that was put together entirely on the basis of fan artists working closely with the author himself.
Homestuck is a fandom that is known for the energetic creativity of its fans. The constant output of excitingly polished and broad-scoping fan projects stands testament to this The growth of the comic, for the very start, has largely been a result of the activity and creative fan community around the comic, so shifting even further to the reader-driven platform for the next step in Homestuck’s evolution is the natural progression of what has made Homestuck what it is today.
But that’s not all! The pair go on to give specific instructions for fan content that you can submit in response to this first video!
Dante: “I definitely want to start off by having you guys send us some videos, about how do you feel about the whole thing ending, and what Homestuck means to you.”
John: “How do you feel about the fandom, how do you feel about it ending, when we say ‘Homestuck 2.0′ does this fill you with a sense of dread, or are you excited? Because we want to do this right, and we want to do it right by you.
I think … one thing we can definitely do is improve out communication with you, the fans. And this youtube channel is a huge part of that.”
So there we go, everyone! Go record your video messages! I am very excited by the new media and fan involvement that is emerging in the wake of the end of Homestuck proper. It’s true that communication from What Pumpkin has been a concern of mine, especially recently, and I know that this is a sentiment which others have echoed. However, this new youtube channel looks to be a concerted effort to improve that, and build the fan community even as Homestuck itself has stopped updating (with the exception of the pending epilogue). One thing now seems for sure; the adventure that is Homestuck is not over, and is perhaps only just beginning.
(n.b.: not to neglect the most important part of the video):
SO Here is my “not-so-secret-anymore” Homestuck AU called *FantasyStuc*k~! ((Or WiccanStuck/CelestialStuck…… Idk.. so far Iv’e only got stucked with FantasyStuck but it might change in time~ xD))
I was actually done like a half year ago with the designs but was only finished with the coloring like a month ago or so. And I am REALLY proud you guys~! ❤
I will have 1 -3 cosplay groups which I will hold hopefully this year or the next summer, So far I’ve want to cosplay Eridan, Sollux and Tavros~ (( Okey I wanna cosplay them all but my budget won’t alow that xD))
AND I will also put up like a small comic of this AU haswell in time~! I am still not sure if I should make it only as a comic or as a “Half comic half story” thing. But I guess some of you are really lazy ((like me)) to read so much so I will try make a comic out of it~ uvu
Ofc if you would find this REALLY fun to cosplay you are SO MUCH WELCOME TO DO SO! SO long you guys obviously don’t claim the designs has your own I would be very much happy~ ;v;
i don’t typically hate people. I’m just hugely disappointed in her. I used to love her books, and I have to admit I can’t help but love them still, but I’ve found out about all the shit she’s been pulling off all this time and im :))))
she basically plagiarized half of her whole series (more on that in thispost)
she almost got a girl kicked out of university just bc she’s petty
she manipulates fans? a girl posted her opinion on the books (it was just an article about plagiarism she shared) // cc replied that it made her cry and her stans attacked the girl // it ended up with the girl in a mess of tears and saying that she deserved the hate she’s getting
god forbid somebody to express negative opinions on her books. if you’re unlucky enough to be picked as her target, she’ll play victim and her fans will drag you to the hell and back
she’s!!! SO!!! spiteful!!! it’s unbelievable how petty and spiteful and bitter she can be. have you seen the way she treats the tv show adaptation of her books?
basically, she tweets about one of her characters being asexual+aromantic. obviously, this has a huge response from the ace/aro community because let’s be honest their representation in media is literally non-existent. then she takes it back saying it’s just a headcanon 🙂 everyone can have headcanons 🙂 you’re the literal author???? what you say is canon how are you headcanoning your own characters??? it was just a stupid excuse because she for some reason changed her mind about the character (Rafael Santiago) being ace, aro.
cc: Magnus Bane is canonically bisexual also cc: i actually headcanon Magnus as pansexual :)) i don’t care how this affects the bi community, and the pan community too, im just making shit up :)) who cares that this will be devastating for bisexual people who were so happy to finally have valid representation? haha, it’s just a headcanon tho, don’t be too happy pansexuals 🙂 this all makes so much sense :)))
cc: oh man i feel like the show is getting too much attention cc: i know what im gonna do cc: [makes posts on social media about writing Malec’s first time] cc: [throws shade at the show in the process, by tagging said post #who can say why #shadowhunters] fans, some time later: where’s the canon Malec smut u were talking about cc: im not writing it yet :)) i just wanted attention back then so i made a post about it
her books have offensive religious jokes which is excused with the fact that she’s jewish herself so she can joke about it
i will not talk about how she goes around announcing that Malec is super important to her!!!! she loves malec so much!!!! that’s probably why Alec was supposed to die in the first book in her original drafts. and that’s why she sidelined them so bad (she literally sent them away on a vacation for half a book and only mentioned like twice). then, alec’s biphobic reaction when he finds out about Magnus’s sexuality??? bye.
slut shames her own characters. yeah, she’s that cool.
did i mention how horrible she is to the show? if you think i’m exaggerating, i assure you im not. one example out of many: before we knew that there was going to be an arranged marriage between Alec and Lydia, cc got asked “what would you never make a part of the shadow world?” guess what she replied with? arranged marriage. and we didn’t even know it’s shade back then. like, it’s such childish, bitter, obvious shade, what was she even thinking about, there’s an arranged marriage in her books (tmi). Celine and Stephen. she literally played herself it’s pathetic
i dunno. she just sucks.
If you need one reason to watch and promote the hell out of the show, it’s that CC has no creative control over it and is incredibly salty about it. I personally love it for many reasons and I want it to become the definitive version of that fictional universe.
oh don’t forget her reaction to accusations of plagiarism was “that’s not a thing” then “I know a lawyer and she says that’s not a thing” “oh everyone does it” and encouraged her fans to plagiarise, there was this massive wave of bannings because young fans didn’t know it wasn’t acceptable because she told them to
the new fandom has a kneejerk reaction to old fans because of it
then there is her Sherrilyn Kenyon lawsuit which makes so much sense. When the book was announced they were called Darkhunters which Kenyon has copyrighted forever, Clare maintained it was a coincidence, the publisher demanded she changed it and as part of the cease and desist she was not to use the term shadowhunters to promote the work at all, because of the Darkhunter books, so they were called the Mortal Instruments
Clare changed agent (apparently she does this as often as her socks) and didn’t inform them of the covenant and so they sold, in good faith, the licence and there was a cough cough cough reaction from Kenyon’s publishers in regards to the movie which was pretty much dropped as soon as word got out because of it, they set the movie to bomb rather than risk the legal action
she then sold the option to ABC again not telling them about the covenant not to use the term Shadowhunters in promotion because of it’s similarity to KEnyon’s
The similarities between some of the books were so pronounced that when they shared a publisher they published Clare’s books under the Darkhunter imprint by mistake.
So she’s being sued for copyright infringement by Kenyon and breach of covenant, and if it goes to trial it’s likely ABC will either drop Shadowhunters to avoid the drama or at best completely rebrand it – and it’s all because of Clare
While all art here was drawn by me, the song and characters are not my property and belong respectively to Two Steps From Hell and Andrew Hussie. I am not profiting off of the use of these creations.
A long time ago someone proposed the prompt: “What I learned in Homestuck is…?” and I never could shake the idea. I wrote the script for this about a year ago, remade the panels about three times, and finally ended up with this. Please take your time reading, the song does not have lyrics. I recommend viewing this on my blog rather than on your dashboard.
Ajna, the female POC protagonist, has the power to absorb certain individuals into her being (named “Incarnations”). She summons these incarnations into battle to help her defend her home from local warlords.
Why is Indivisible worth supporting?
The protagonist is extremely cool and well-designed! She has her own motivations for fighting and is a breath of fresh air from overly sexualised female characters.
Backer rewards on IndieGoGo include Steam codes for How To Survive (contributions under $100) and Brothers (both steam codes for contributions above $100).
Is this campaign trustworthy?
Campaign is based on fixed funding, which means that if the goal of $1.5 million is not reached, every single backer will be issued a refund.
A playable prototype available to everyone has already been developed (3 months of development time) before the campaign began. Regular gamers would know that a prototype this developed could be considered beta level. This prototype allows players to try out mechanics and take a sneak peak at the world that is Ajna’s home. (Keep in mind that this is a prototype and nothing is yet to be finalised.)
Lab Zero delivered to the backers of Skullgirls a game that received critical response, clearly showing they are dedicated to game developing.
The good news is that 505 Games (publisher of games such as Cooking Mama and Brothers) has promised to contribute $2 million to the development of Indivisble if and only if the target of $1.5 million on IndieGoGo is met.
The total development of Indivisible requires a total of $3.5 million ($2 million by 505, $1.5 million from IndieGoGo) so if the crowdfunding fails, the game is most definitely not going to happen.
If you can’t fund right now, don’t worry! You can help by promoting the game through Thunderclap, social media and recommending this lovely game to your family and friends.
Regardless of how you choose to support this wonderful game, it is always appreciated!
