the trolls at the waterpark
karkat: he wears too much sunblock and slips multiple times on the pavement
aradia: she doesn’t even swim she just gets food from the concession stand and sits with sollux the whole time
tavros: he gets stuck in a float tube and circles the lazy river about 20 times before gamzee finds him and helps him out
sollux: he brought his husktop with him and got it wet
nepeta: went in the lazy river rapids with equius and fell out and got seperated from him. just curled up on the lounge for the rest of the day. she hated the water. equius insisted she go.
kanaya: she spent half the time searching for equius because he refused to put on sunblock. also went on the 70 foot tall waterslide that drops straight down. didn’t scream. she is strong.
terezi: went on the dragon themed water slide about 10 times until vriska made her stop
vriska: layed in the sun for half the trip tanning. tried to flip tavros in the lazy river. tripped karkat. made terezi stop going on the dragon themed waterslide. then took a nap. she was almost left behind until tavros went back and got her.
equius: refused to put on sunblock because he is STRONG. ended up getting sunburned all over his body. couldn’t move for 3 days.
gamzee: he went on all the rides. all of them. his face paint washed off and he got upset for 2 seconds before seeing the lazy river. floated in it until he saw tavros and helped him out.
eridan: he didn’t wanna go. feferi made him. he was upset the entire time. had to reform his hair after it fell flat when he got out from a waterslide.
feferi: she didn’t leave. police had to come. she never left. shes still there. swimming, 3 days later. eridan is worried. the police gave up. she is too strong
i’ve seen a lot of people reblogging news from ferguson, wondering if the situation has changed at all. the answer is YES—massively! so i thought i would compile some updates, courtesy of alderman antonio french (who, less than 24 hours ago, was being [wrongfully] held in jail for alleged unlawful assembly). the time right now is 4:20AM CST, august 15th.
yesterday afternoon—thursday, august 14th—ferguson & stl police were taken out of control of ferguson and replaced with MO highway patrol, led by captain ron johnson, who grew up in the area. his first order of business was to order police to remove their masks and cease violent tactics.
orange cones replaced tanks, the police line vanished, not a drop of tear gas was in sight and families felt safe enough to have their young people out protesting with them. without the fear tactics and police intimidation, people came out in droves to support ferguson.
the discussion of mike brown cannot end here. the relief is palpable and the decrease of tension under johnson’s excellent leadership is a huge mercy, but justice has not been served yet. now, hopefully, citizens will get to work together with the legal system for swift and transparent justice for mike brown & the countless other black men & women across the nation who have been unlawfully treated, and in many cases died, at the hands of police. let all of us use the alleviated atmosphere to focus the conversation, focus the nation. #mikebrown
BREAKING: A remarkable change has happened in Ferguson, MO. With the Missouri Highway Patrol taking leadership instead of the St. Louis City Police, there’s less police presence, and almost no military-esque police presence. I get to share partly good news in tonight’s blogging. Let’s hope it stays that way. Here’s updates from Ferguson’s protests and protests around the country.

most classic novels are classics because they were written by old white men for other white men. so, like, don’t ever feel bad for not reading them
I can go on forever but… looks like someone made an ignorant post. There are many famous classics written by female authors and these are just a few. Not that a book written by an “old white dude” makes it any less valid. But try to actually think before writing uninformed bullshit online okay goodbye.
something has been bothering me about this comment and I’ve realized a few things:
- All of these female writers are white. Of course there is Zora Neale Hurston, Maya Angelou, and Alice Walker but there are precious little classic books written by non-white females, especially considering the mass of white male authors.
- Mary Shelly’s works were first published anonymously.
- Charlotte Bronte, Louisa May Alcott, Emily Bronte, and Anne Bronte used pen names that were purposefully masculine or androgynous.

- Jane Austen used a pen name as well. In 2007 British author David Lassman wrote an article called “Rejecting Jane” in which he described how he slightly altered text from Austen’s Pride and Prejudice and submitted it, under a pen name, to several major publishing companies. Only one recognized the fraud, and the rest rejected the work.
- Margaret Mitchell (she used the pen name “Peggy” or “Peg”) was hired as a reporter for The Atlanta Journal, despite no encouragement from her family or society to pursue a career in journalism.
There had been some skepticism on the Atlanta Journal Magazine staff when Peggy came to work as a reporter. Debutantes slept late in those days and didn’t go in for jobs. -Medora Field (Wolfe, M.R., Daughters of Canaan: a saga of southern women, p. 149)
- Female writers have faced and overcame years of sexism, and non-white authoresses had to experience overwhelming racism on top of it. I understand what you are trying to say, but these novels you’ve mentioned are not the rules; they are the exceptions. Please recognize the struggles female writers have and will experience.
