Why Queer Women (and Women in General) Should Be Excited for Netflix’s ‘Jessica Jones’

In a nutshell: Carrie-Anne Moss plays a lesbian. Krysten Ritter plays a possibly sexually fluid ex-superhero. The series is created by a women, has a female showrunner and employs female directors. The show gives us Marvel’s first on-screen queer female character in its cinematic/televised universe. In short, HUZZAH.

Wouldn’t they have to progress the MCU like really far to make a Young Avengers movie possible? We’d need Wanda to marry Vision, lose Billy and Tommy and then go crazy? Then we’d need Billy and Tommy to be reincarnated. Goddddf

the thing is that the MCU doesn’t follow comic story lines 100%!! So like they can give the minimoffs a COMPLETELY different origin (like what they did to Wanda and Pietro in aou).

I’m hoping that the young avengers get a Netflix series tho. Maybe someday :’)

MEET MARVEL’S NEWEST FEMALE SUPERHERRO IN MOON GIRL AND DEVIL DINOSAUR

Lunella’s struggle to fit in may be a little more complex than that of a normal teenage girl.
“Something that’s hallmark of a Marvel Hero is that they’re gifted with a power they may see as a curse,” [Mark] Paniccia said. Their hero’s journey is to discover how to use it to help others. Lunella is a little genius with grand plans on going to big schools, but she’s got an Inhuman gene, unpredictable alien DNA inside that—once triggered—could take her life in a wildly different direction. She’s determined to control that change. I think that speaks to struggles we all experience as kids and will make her story resonate with young and older readers alike.” (x)

9 Times Ms. Marvel Tackled Real Issues

comicsrecap:

By Sofía Marlasca (princessamericachavez)

Since its debut, Ms. Marvel has been a massive success with all kinds of audiences. Marvel has been applauded for the introduction of a new Muslim American superhero (not the first one, mind you) and G. Willow Wilson’s writing has been universally acclaimed. So much, that it seems Kamala will be joining the main All-New, All-Different Avengers.

There’s a reason for all these: Ms. Marvel is brilliant. And yes, it is culturally diverse and inclusive, but the real brilliance of this title goes beyond that. Wilson has managed, time and time again, to tackle a wide variety of issues many other comic books shy away from and it has done it in fun, innovative, and creative ways.

Kamala Khan has become, without a doubt, the voice of a generation: a way in for thousands of readers and fans who identify with a lovable geek who is facing this world one day at the time, with the earnestness and determination so many other heroes lack this days. Now, we bring you a collection of Ms. Marvel‘s most insightful moments so far.

1. When it portrayed how misplaced and disrespectful the “White Savior Complex” is:
