Puerto Rico has created a monument in memory of the victims of the Orlando shooting.

Almost half of those killed at Pulse were Puerto Rican. The monument is located in Third Millennium Park in San Juan:

At the base of the monument is a plaque highlighting the names of the 23 Puerto Rican victims killed in the massacre, with the additional 26 victims listed below.

Alongside the names, Spanish text reads: “This tribute to life strengthens our commitment to fight hate — the product of homophobia — with love and respect. Our slogan resounds in all our hearts: Love is love, is love, is love…”

The final phrase appears to be a reference to Puerto Rican playwright Lin-Manuel Miranda’s speech at the 2016 Tony Awards, just hours after the Pulse shooting, where the straight artist performed a powerful sonnet he had written for the victims of the massacre.

what i’m afraid now, is that, after this orlando shooting, parents are gonna use this as an excuse to “protect” their child from being lgbt+ like saying how many ppl died because of it, how they just want u to be safe etc etc as if we have a choice to not be lgbt+

silversarcasm:

if you’re lgbtq and aren’t posting about this please please don’t feel guilty, if you need to reblog pretty pictures and talk with your friends and take some time that does not make you a bad person, you do not have to broadcast your grief if you don’t want to, look after yourselves xx
